To improve the quality of life of people living in rural communities. ICOBI strives to increase the number of healthy and prosperous families by implementing various programs as a non-facility-based NGO operating at family/household and community levels.
Objectives:
Establishment of an essential health care system that is universally available to individuals and families within rural communities; uses scientifically sound and socially acceptable methods; is preventive, curative and rehabilitative; affordable by the communities and designed within the context of the overall social economic development of the community and particularly addressing the following:
Health education and health promotion
Maternal and child health including family planning and immunization
Prevention and control of infectious diseases especially malaria, tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS/STD.
Nutrition and food security.
Access to safe water and proper sanitation
Initiation and promotion of educational programs, projects and activities at all levels (for both young and adult) and both formal and informal.
Eradication of poverty in rural communities by collaborating with government agencies, private organizations and other non-profit organizations to initiate, promote and support income generating activities particularly for the less privileged members of society such as orphans, women and the youth.
Environmental protection and availability of alternative sources of energy by working with other organizations and agencies to promote tree planting programs and use of alternatives such as biogas, windmills and solar energy.
Promotion of peace, harmony and understanding between the various peoples from different communities by initiating and promoting programs and projects that educate people that we not only have the same heritage but also a common destiny and that we need to work together to ensure the continued survival and well being of mankind co-existing happily on this, our shared planet. The organization supports organized groups and individuals that strive to foster good intra and international relations; help in conflict resolution and promote exchange of ideas and experiences among the different peoples of the World. ICOBI supports setting up of modern model villages and twinning of these villages with those in other countries and continents.
